Florrie Marshall, violist, is an avid musician and has performed with esteemed artists including Ida Kavafian, Xiao Don Wong, Michael Kannen, Hye-Jin Kim and Ara Gregorian as a part of the Next Generation series of the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival at East Carolina University, with tours spanning North and South Carolina and Virginia. Florrie has been a scholarship recipient for a number of chamber music festivals, most recently participating in the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival’s competitive Winter Workshop in Greenville, NC, as well as the Heifetz Institute in Staunton, VA. In addition to her love of chamber music, she is also an active and successful orchestral musician, having served as concertmaster, principal second violin and principal viola for both the ECU Symphony Orchestra (2011-2016) and conductor-less ensemble The Virginia Beach Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra (2008-present). Florrie recently earned a bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance and a Certificate of Advanced Performance Studies in Viola from East Carolina University and is currently a candidate for the Masters of Music at Yale University, in New Haven, CT. Former and current teachers include Dora Marshall Mullins (1998-2011), Hye-Jin Kim and Ara Gregorian (2011-2016) and Ettore Causa (2016-present).
